Starburst is sad to learn of the death of Anthony Hinds, son of the founder of Hammer films, William Hinds (who was known by the name Will Hammer). He took over the reigns of the company along with James Carreras, and was fundamental in taking the studio into the Sci-fi/horror genre after he saw the BBC production of Nigel Kneale’s The Quatermass Experiment.

Anthony left Hammer in the late ’60s, but remained a screenwriter, credited as John Elder, on numerous films including Dracula – Prince of Darkness (1966) and Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (1973).

Starburst wishes to extend our sympathy to his family and friends.
