Robert Kirkman, one of the creators of THE WALKING DEAD, is currently adapting another comic book property for TV: OUTCAST. Kirkman and Paul Azaceta are developing the show for Cinemax, and now comes news that the show has found its leading man.

Deadline is reporting that Patrick Fugit will star as Kyle Barnes in the series. The character of Kyle Barnes is someone who has been haunted by demonic possession since he was a child. As for Fugit, he’s been recently seen in David Fincher’s GONE GIRL, although many will be more familiar with him for his role in Cameron Crowe’s ALMOST FAMOUS.

On the news, Kirkman said, “Despite the success of THE WALKING DEAD, OUTCAST is only my second foray into the horror genre. I think Kyle Barnes is every bit as compelling as Rick Grimes and demonic possession is way scarier than zombies – so this is going to be fun.”

Additionally, KINGDOM OF HEAVEN’s Philip Glenister will be playing heavy-drinking, heavy-gambling Reverend Anderson in the show, with Gabriel Batmen playing a younger version of Kyle Barnes.

Kirkman has already completed the script for the pilot episode of OUTCAST, and the current rumour is that YOU’RE NEXT’s Adam Wingard is being eyed to direct the series opener.
