netflix kill

After a successful first series on YouTube, NETFL!X AND KILL is back, and award-winning filmmaker Kate Shenton is now launching a crowdfunding campaign for Season Two.

From the press release:

NETFL!X AND KILL is a quirky dark comedy web series about a psychopath and his victim… who spend all day sitting around watching television. In between murders, they are planning the ultimate killing. You can watch the entire first season on Hex Studios’ YouTube channel. Check out the campaign video below:

Season One reached upwards of 10,000 views. After the overwhelmingly positive reactions, Kate Shenton decided to expand the universe of her series. “What I love to do is build worlds. There always was the potential to create a lot with NETFL!X AND KILL. The reaction to Season One was so encouraging that I didn’t want to wait before I continued to show more of this world.

Kate Shenton is bringing back the same creative team for the new season, including stars Nic Lamont and Adam Rhys-Davies, who also starred in her award-winning feature film EGOMANIAC. Season Two will follow the same premise of a psychopath and a victim watching television with a twist: this time Nic Lamont will play the psychopath and Adam Rhys-Davies will play the victim.

In order to get Season Two made, the producers are launching a crowdfunding campaign: the perks include a number of NETFL!X AND KILL goodies as well as the opportunity to have your own episode in the series.

The campaign has started and will run until the end of November, with production starting on the series in January 2019. The campaign is now live on Indiegogo, so help out if you can.

SWAMP THING Adds Henderson Wade

Henderson Wade

Another day, another piece of casting news for DC Universe’s Swamp Thing.

Hot on the heels of Derek Mears and Andy Bean being confirmed for the show, now comes word (via Deadline) that Riverdale’s Henderson Wade has landed the series regular role of Matt Cable. That character is pegged as “a Louisiana lawman who finds himself in dire straits when supernatural evil threatens the town he’s sworn to protect.”

In addition to Mears playing the titular Elemental and Bean playing his human alter ego of Alec Holland, Swamp Thing’s impressive ensemble also includes Crystal Reed, Jennifer Beals, Jeryl Prescott, Virginia Madsen, Maria Sten, and then Will Patton as the show’s ‘big bad’.

The early word on Swamp Thing reads:

The drama follows what happens when CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. There, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland – only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous – and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.

As a character, Swamp Thing began life back in 1971 and has appeared in a whole host of different mediums over the decades. Wes Craven would helm 1982’s Swamp Thing movie, with a sequel following in 1989. On the small screen, a three-season USA Network show ran during the early ‘90s, and there was similarly a far-too-short-lived animated series during those years.

At this stage, Swamp Thing is set for a to-be-confirmed 2019 premiere, with Mark Veriheiden and Gary Dauberman on showrunner duties.

The CW Rebooting THE 4400

The 4400

Ready for more of The 4400? Good, for The CW is rebooting this genre favourite series.

Via Variety, this new take will still keep the basic premise of the original 2004 show, which saw 4,400 missing people from various time periods all turn up in the present day… with superpowers! One tweak for this redo, however, is that instead of these missing people all reappearing together in one place, they’ll actually reappear in their last known locations.

The early word on The CW’s The 4400 reads:

Over the course of recent history, four thousand four hundred young adults in their reproductive prime have gone missing all over the world. Some disappearances happened as recently as a few weeks ago, while others date as far back as the day the Soviets launched the Sputnik satellite in 1957. One day in 2019, all 4,400 show up at the sites of their original abductions. None of them have aged a day and none have any memory of where they’ve been. The so called ‘4400’ must grapple with their return to a changed and hostile world and also contend with the reality that they’ve come back altered in ways that none of them yet understand.

Limitless’ Taylor Elmore and Craig Sweeney are on board to write and executive produce, with Elmore pegged as showrunners should the series get picked up.

Taron Egerton Rules Himself Out of Third KINGSMAN Movie

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

With a third Kingsman movie in early development, it appears that the franchise’s main star won’t be returning for said threequel.

Taron Egerton, who plays Eggsy in the Kingsman franchise, has seemingly ruled himself out of Kingsman 3. As he explained to Yahoo UK, “I don’t know how hot off the press this is, and I think I’m allowed to say it, but I’m not in the next Kingsman movie. That doesn’t mean I won’t be in Kingsman ever again. I was with Matthew [Vaughn] as little as a few days ago, we’re still very much in business together, but his next journey in that world doesn’t involve me. I’m sad that I won’t be on that journey with him, but it’s not the last you’ve seen of Eggsy.”

While this may come as a surprise to some, you have to remember that the next installment in the series – currently titled Kingsman: The Great Game – will actually be a prequel of sorts that will look at the famed Kingsman organisation and its history dating back to the 1900s.

In addition to this prequel, there is still plans for a straight-up Kingsman 3, not to mention a Statesman film, and a Kingsman TV effort. So while The Great Game is the third Kingsman movie, it’s not Kingsman 3.

At present, Kingsman: The Great Game is set for a November 2019 release.

The CW Adapting SURVIVORS’ CLUB

Survivors' Club

In a world where barely a week goes by that we don’t hear about another comic book adaptation in development, we now have word that Vertigo’s Survivors’ Club is heading to the small screen.

Courtesy of Deadline, The CW is developing a show based on Lauren Beukes, Dale Halvorsen, and Ryan Kelly’s horror tale. Jared Frieder is developing the adap, and he’ll also be serving as an executive producer along with Len Goldstein.

To give you an idea of what to expect from the show, the synopsis for the first book in the Survivors’ Club run reads:

One was possessed by a poltergeist. Another was trapped in a haunted house. A third had a killer doll. Ever wonder what happened to these children of the 1980s? Find out in Survivors’ Club.

Survivors’ Club won’t be the first time that The CW has adapted a Vertigo title, with iZombie now in the midst of its fifth and final season. Elsewhere, there have also been small-screen adaptations of Lucifer and Preacher.

Expect more on Survivors’ Club as it continues to develop.

SWAMP THING Confirms Derek Mears and Andy Bean

Swamp Thing Derek Mears

Following a couple of months of speculation, we’ve now got some official news on Swamp Thing’s titular Elemental.

It’s been largely known, but not made official, that Derek Mears was to play Swamp Thing in the DC Universe-exclusive show, and now Warner Brothers has finally given official confirmation on Mears’ involvement in the series. While the ever-charming Mears – himself a huge fanboy of all things horror and genre – landed on the radar of many as Jason Voorhees in 2009’s Friday the 13th remake, he’s also impressed in the likes of The Hills Have Eyes IIMen in Black IIPredatorsHansel & Gretel: Witch HuntersDead Snow 2Sleepy HollowAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.The Flash, and will soon be soon in Robert Rodriguez’s Alita: Battle Angel.

Not only is Mears now ‘official’ as Swamp Thing, but Warners has also announced that Andy Bean will be playing Alec Holland, the human version of the titular creature. Bean is likely best known to genre fans for Power and Here and Now, and he’ll also been seen as the adult Stanley Uris in next year’s IT: Chapter Two.

Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride Sign New WALKING DEAD Deals

The Walking Dead

Hot on the heels of this week’s explosive episode of The Walking Dead, now comes word that two of the show’s key players have signed new deals.

Courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride have penned new deals with AMC that will see them sticking around for the next three years. Now that Andrew Lincoln has officially departed the series, that leaves Reedus’ Daryl and McBride’s Carol as the only remaining cast members and characters from The Walking Dead’s first season.

If you remember, yesterday saw AMC announce that they are developing a trilogy of Walking Dead movies, with those features being used to continue the journey of Lincoln’s Rick Grimes. The new deals in place for Reedus and McBride include the ability for these stars to move between any Walking Dead properties that the network has in the works – be that the main The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, the aforementioned movies, or any other project that is put into development.

Both Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride will see a significant pay increase with these new agreements. The early word is that McBride’s three-year deal will see her pocket approximately £20 million, while Reedus’ contract is thought to be worth £350,000 per episode and at least £50 million in total.

AMC also has plans to come to a similar agreement with Danai Gurira to continue on as Michonne, although her recent moves in Hollywood could prove to be a slight stumbling block. In addition to her role as Okoye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Gurira is to feature in 2020’s Godzilla vs. Kong.

As ever, expect more on all things The Walking Dead as we get it.

Will Patton is SWAMP THING’s ‘Big Bad’

Will Patton General Avery Sunderland

As Swamp Thing continues to flesh out its core cast, the live-action DC Universe exclusive has found its ‘big bad’.

Via Deadline, Will Patton has landed the role of General Avery Sunderland. That character is a longtime comic book character, with him and his Sunderland Corporation looking to discover the mystical mysteries of the swamp that Alec Holland resides within. As for Patton, he’s a favourite of many a genre fan thanks to the likes of Falling Skies, Armageddon, and this year’s Halloween.

Already on board for Swamp Thing are Derek Mears as the titular Elemental, Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, and Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland.

Swamp Thing will premiere next year on DC Universe.

Thomas Haden Church is HELLBOY’s Lobster Johnson

Thomas Haden Church Lobster Johnson

Earlier this year, Thomas Haden Church teased that he’d already shot scenes for a new superhero film, and now we have some concrete details on just what that project is.

Courtesy of Discussing Film, Church will be playing Lobster Johnson in Neil Marshall’s impending Hellboy reboot. Having played Sandman in Spider-Man 3, Church returns to the world of superhero movies to play a character yet to be seen on the big screen.

The Lobster Johnson character was close to appearing in Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army, but that ultimately wasn’t to be. In Hellboy mythos, Lobster is a 1930s comic book vigilante who the general public aren’t aware is a real person and a real vigilante protecting the world from the no-good Nazis and criminals out there.

With David Harbour as the titular hero, Hellboy is set for an April 12th, 2019 release.
