Robert Longstreet Joins HALLOWEEN KILLS as Lonnie Elam

Robert Longstreet

As Halloween Kills continues to bring characters back to the iconic Halloween franchise, now comes word that Lonnie Elam will be returning to Haddonfield.

Courtesy of Bloody Disgusting, The Haunting of Hill House’s Robert Longstreet has joined the film as Lonnie Elam. Longstreet is new to the role, but Lonnie is a character who appeared in John Carpenter’s original 1978 Halloween.

Played by Brent Le Page in that ’78 picture, Lonnie was one of the kids who bullied Tommy Doyle about “the bogeyman, the bogeyman” and was the kid who was scared to death by Sam Loomis as he was being dared to enter the Myers house.

For the eagle-eyed of you out there, you’ll have noticed that last year’s Halloween had Dylan Arnold playing Cameron Elam – the boyfriend of Allyson and the son of Lonnie Elam.

This is just the latest new addition for Halloween Kills, with Robert Longstreet joining Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle and Kyle Richards returning as Lindsay Wallace.

To be directed once again by David Gordon Green, and from a script put together by Green, Danny McBride and Scott Teems, Halloween Kills is booked in for an October 2020 release. Following that, Halloween Ends is already set for October 2021 – with that movie supposedly set to bring the franchise to an end once and for all.

HOME Manchester Hosting FILM FEAR 2019

doctor sleep

HOME and Film4 are excited to announce the programme for the fourth annual FilmFear season – the biggest programme yet will comprise nine days of horror, extreme cinema, cult favourites and special guests coming to Manchester this October.

These are the films we’re most looking forward to:

THE LIGHTHOUSE

Kicking off the season on Tuesday 29 October will be a special preview of one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year – The Lighthouse, director Robert Eggers’ much-anticipated follow-up to his folk-horror debut The Witch (2015). Starring Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe as lighthouse keepers battling the elements, isolation, inner demons and more on a remote and mysterious Maine island in the 1890s, the eerie period tale will be on general release in January 2020 making HOME audiences amongst the first to see the film in the UK.

DOCTOR SLEEP

Looking for something to do on Halloween night? There’s a preview of Doctor Sleep, based on the Stephen King novel and starring Ewan McGregor (Trainspotting) as Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining, alongside Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible series) and Jacob Tremblay (Room). Fans of The Shining are going to get the chance to see just how director Mike Flanagan gets around the sticky point of including Dick Halloran – killed off in the Kubrick film but a survivor in King’s novel…

LUZ

This German horror is set to send shivers right up the spine as what seems to be a tale of demonic possession becomes something, well, not easy to define. Morphing into a kind of audience puzzle, this head scratcher is going to confound and terrify in equal measure.

On top of these highlights, the season has other new releases like All The Gods In The Sky, Ghost Town Anthology and some classics back on the big screen – The Wicker Man and Nosferatu the Vampyre (Herzog’s version), whilst there’s even a family screening of The Witcheds.

Halloween suddenly got a lot scarier…

FilmFear is at HOME Manchester from Tue 29 October – Sun 3 November. For more information, visit www.homemcr.org

Expect more on Lord of the Rings as it continues to develop.

Nicholas Vince’s I AM MONSTERS! Show Opens London Horror Festival

vince monsters

Nicholas Vince, famous for portraying the Chatterer Cenobite in Hellraiser and Kinski in Nightbreed is set to open the London Horror Festival in his one-man show I Am Monsters!

The performance will take place on three nights only – October 8th – 10th – and demand is expected to be high, so book your tickets now at https://www.pleasance.co.uk/

From the press release:

I AM MONSTERS! charts Vince’s life from a monster-obsessed child, born undershot, through to an out of the closet actor, propelled to fame by Clive Barker’s ground-breaking films. He speaks openly about being a bullied outsider, the life-threatening operation to reconstruct his face, his battle with being gay in Thatcher’s Britain and reveals what it takes to be a monster. He will also be reading extracts from his favourite horror classics.

Vince said today: ““This show is about my fascination with the monsters I first read as an 8 year-old in The Golden Treasury of Myths and Legends, and later, the classic horror novels and films, and how they helped me deal with being bullied at school, through my facial reconstructive surgery and a near death experience to the fun we had making the films.

I’ve told the stories about the challenges of makeup on Clive Barker’s Hellraiser, Hellbound and Nightbreed over the years, but I hadn’t put them in the context of the times we filmed in and been able to celebrate the profound effect they’ve had on me and so many people.”

Clive Barker added: “Nicholas Vince has played monsters both bizarre and blood-thirsty, and has brought both his life-long passion for horror and his immense skills as an actor to every role. Now, in this extraordinary confessional, we meet the man behind the terrifying masks, as he traces his journey from a troubled youth to a man who now embodies creatures known world-wide, Nick charms and chills us, mingling the witty and the nightmarish, So go see the man who laughs behind the mask. He has such tales to tell.”

The show takes place at the Pleasance Theatre, Carpenters Mews, North Road, London.

abominible snowman

Doctor Who fans have another treat in store in September as Demon Music Group release audio from another classic serial on vinyl.

From the press release:

Demon Music Group presents The Abominable Snowmen (including an Amazon Exclusive version), a classic six-part adventure starring Patrick Troughton as the Doctor and introducing one of his most popular enemies, the Yeti. The records will be released on 27th September 2019 and are available now for pre-order. RRP £51.99.

Standard edition: 3 x 180g heavyweight white vinyl

Amazon exclusive edition: 3 x 180g heavyweight ‘Tibetan Blizzard’ vinyl

snowman 2

In this classic ‘lost’ adventure (only one of the six episodes still remains in the BBC archives), first shown on BBC TV between September and November 1967, the TARDIS materialises in the Himalayan mountains, circa 1930, where Professor Travers has been trying to track down the legendary abominable snowmen. The Doctor soon discovers that the Yeti do exist, but as the servants of a terrible force – the Great Intelligence.

Presented across 3 x heavyweight 180g pieces of vinyl, this narrated TV soundtrack evokes another classic Doctor Who adventure in all its aural magnificence. The haunting sounds of the windswept Himalayas, the hynoptic chanting of Tibetan monks, the insistent bleeping of the Yeti control devices, and the terrifying roar of the creatures themselves are all accompanied by the eerie sonics of Ron
Grainer and Delia Derbyshire’s classic theme tune. Written by Mervyn Haisman and Henry Lincoln, this was the Yeti’s debut TV appearance, and they would soon return to menace the Doctor in another adventure. Linking narration is provided by Frazer Hines (Jamie) and the cast includes Deborah Watling as Victoria, Jack Watling as Professor Travers, David Spenser as Thonmi and Wolfe Morris as Padmasambhava.

“The Daleks’ Master Plan and The Evil of the Daleks have proved hugely popular on vinyl and we’re very pleased to be following up these releases with the story of another classic Doctor Who enemy. The Yeti may be fluffier than the Daleks but they’re certainly no less terrifying!” Ben Stanley, Head of Product & Marketing, Demon MusicGroup
