With Season 3 of The CW’s The Flash getting ever closer, executive producers Aaron Helbing and Todd Helbing have been discussing what we can expect from the villains of this new season.

What we’ve previously had confirmed is that there will be at least two major villains in the series’ third season, with Dr. Alchemy and villainous speedster Savitar set to arrive to torment the Scarlet Speedster.

Speaking to TVLine, Aaron Helbing teased, “It is more about psychological warfare,” before Todd Helbing elaborated, “We’re trying to have the powers that they both possess play off of each other. It’s not just, ‘Oh, I have to catch this guy and take him down’. It’s like, ‘Crap, now there’s this other guy, Dr. Alchemy,’ who has these transmutation qualities, this Philosopher’s Stone. You start to learn what he does with this stuff and how the both of them are coexisting.”

Additionally, the show’s third season will be looking to take a more lighter tone that’s more akin to what we saw in the show’s debut year rather than some of the darker paths that the conclusion of Season 2 saw.

And on one final point of interest, Violett Beane has been spotted on the Vancouver set of the show. That in itself isn’t anything of note, for we knew that the actress was returning as Jesse Chambers. What was of note, though, was that she was dressed up in a superhero costume that was similar to the Jesse Quick character of the comic book world. With Wally West stepping up as Kid Flash in Season 3, it looks as if Jesse Quick will be another speedster on hand to help out The Flash.

The Flash’s third season speeds to screens on October 4th.
