With horror-driven TV proving to be a huge deal right now, NBC Universal has put in a pilot order for Run for Your Life.
As per Variety, Jason Blum will be executive producing the supernatural thriller which will be based around the last night of the famed Dia de Los Muertos… aka the Day of the Dead. The early plot details on the show reads: A grieving detective is thrust into a deadly game to bring someone back from the dead.
On board to star in the potential series are Josh Segarra as Julian Silva, Andrew Jacobs as Victor Macias, Carlos Leal as Yellow Skull, Danube Hermosillo as Lia Macias, Angela Alvarado as Elena Macias, Jennifer Landon as Detective Rachel Spokes, Kadeem Hardison as Captain Gilbert “Gil” Barnes and Fernanda Andrade as Mariana Silva. Of those names, genre fans will likely be most familiar with Josh Segarra, who played Adrian Chase/Prometheus in Arrow’s fifth season.
Should the pilot end up successfully being picked up as a full series, it’s expected that it will air on Syfy or USA over in the United States.
As mentioned, horror TV is big business right now, although the end result has been a bit of a mixed bag. While the likes of Bates Motel have wowed, others such as Damien have been absolutely awful. Then there’s also the trepidation shown by networks with shows of a horror nature, such as how FOX was a tad hesitant to renew the rather good The Exorcist for a second season (which they ultimately did) or how NBC sadly pulled the plug on the excellent Hannibal after three seasons.
