Paramount Pictures and those remake specialists Platinum Dunes have lined up Russell Brand to star in their horror comedy THE HAUNTREPRENEUR. Brand seems to have stepped away from the RENTAGHOST redux which he was previously linked to and which still has Ben Stiller attached.

THE HAUNTREPRENEUR is a spec script written by prolific screenwriter Scott Rosenberg who brought us such classics as GONE IN SIXTY SECONDS and CON AIR. The story follows a family finding it difficult to adjust to life in a new town and they hire the Hauntrepreneur to assist them with settling in. This man then creates a haunted house filled with a bizarre array of spooks and ghouls. Just the kind of thing to bring a family closer, a haunting!

Brand’s once promising career has been in a bit of a slump lately with disasters like HOP and the ARTHUR remake, oh and of course losing Katy Perry can’t help.

No director is attached as yet but word is this will be more of a PG family comedy rather than a raucous gross out.
