It seems that the long threatened remake of CARRIE is still on the cards…

The latest name in contention for the director’s chair is BOYS DON’T CRY director Kimberley Pierce, who is currently in talks with MGM. Pierce is considered a ‘feminist filmmaker’ so will probably be a good fit.

The original Stephen King novel revolves around a telekinetic teenager with an overbearing religious mother who unleashes hell at her high school prom. It was turned into an impressive film in 1976 by Brian De Palma with Sissy Spacek, John Travolta and Amy Irving in the cast.

A script has been written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacassa and is said to be more faithful to the original source novel than the 76 film.
