Despite recent rumours, it seems as it Matt Damon will not be returning to the BOURNE franchise just yet. The latest story on the sequel to THE BOURNE LEGACY was that the movie had been delayed in order for Damon to return as Jason Bourne alongside Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross. Apparently not.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, producer Frank Marshall said, “It’s simply not true. Justin Lin is working with Andrew Baldwin on an Aaron Cross script that they pitched us a few months ago. I talk to Justin all the time and the script is not ready. It’s a summer movie, and if we don’t start pre-production now, we can’t make next summer. Therefore, it’s a wise decision to move to 2016.
To add further to Marshall’s stance on a Damon return, the actor himself has previously claimed that he will only return to the series if Paul Greengrass was on board to direct. As it stands, Lin is the man who will be helming this next BOURNE movie, meaning a Damon return is off the table at this moment in time.
