Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson is the latest to enter negotiations for the lead in Gareth Edwards’ highly anticipated Western reboot of Godzilla. Others reportedly being considered include the new Supes Henry Cavill, Argo’s Scoot McNairy, X-Men First Class’ Caleb Landry Jones and, surprise surprise, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. (Is there anything that guy’s not up for lately?) 

All signs point to this project erasing the terrible 1998 film from our collective memories – it has a smart director on board (former FX wiz Edwards made helmed the excellent Monsters in 2010), a great writer (Frank Darabont was recently hired to come up with a new draft), and savvy producers behind it (Legendary Pictures, home of the Dark Knight). 

Further new ‘fo this week also confirms that the Big Guy will be facing multiple monster threats in the movie. Could an appearance by Mothra be on the cards? MechaGodzilla perhaps? Godzooky? Ok, probably not. 

GODZILLA begins shooting in March for a May 16th 2014 debut.
