The Evil Dead remake is an actual thing, real and coming for you in April 2013. So instead of getting all antsy about it maybe we should just embrace the thing, especially when everything coming out of people who are close to the production or who have seen footage is so promising.

The New York Comic Con is fast becoming the equal to the San Diego one with many studios pimping their filmic product and providing Q&A with the talent behind the film. Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and some of the stars of the new Evil Dead brought along some footage of the film and some of the talent from in front of the camera, therefore we have provided with this first still from the movie:

Creepy eh? The footage described at the convention has been approved by the horror fraternity for apparently being “Hard R” (that’s 18 to us in the UK) and “Insane” including such delights as Raimi’s patented ram-o-cam, tree rape, graphic limb dismemberment and some poor girl cutting her own tongue in two. Early indications were that the film would ditch the tongue in cheek tone of some of the original movie and go full on serious and dark and they seem to have kept that view.

Evil Dead will be in cinemas in April 2013.
