Towards the end of last year, we were lucky enough to get our hands on a copy of Morgan’s Organs #1: Head to Head. And now, this adult-orientated comedy tale is back for its second helping, Craps. Whereas last time out we saw Morgan’s love life (or lack of!) the order of the day, this time the poor fella has ended up swallowing a dice. Given how it’s highly recommended to not have such a gaming device in your system, this causes all kinds of problems for Morgan’s, err, organs.

So, let’s get to the big question you’ve likely got: just why has Morgan wound up with a dice in his body? Well, that’s down to his bone-headed decision of swallowing the six-sided cube in order to avoid a swift kick to the balls for losing a game of craps. And while Morgan may have reacted badly when propositioned with a blow to his nether regions, it’s now the turn of his poor organs to decipher the conundrum of just how they can get rid of this unwelcome addition to their collective system; not least the trauma experienced by Meats, the stomach that is left with the unenviable task of trying to dispose of the dice.

As put out there by the guys behind Morgan’s Organs themselves, this is a title that is positioned as Inside Out for adults. That’s certainly something that’s still applicable for this second book, with the humour certainly leaning towards the R-rated side once more. While the first book was laced in sex due to the central focus being on Morgan potentially getting laid, this time out we have a story that’s actually even more charming and funny than its predecessor. Sure, it can be easier to make jokes and crack wise when sex and smut is the order of the day, but without that to fall back on here, Craps is a trickier beast to tackle on the humour front. Luckily, writer Daniel Brodie handles the task at hand splendidly, delivering even more chuckles than before, not least when the attention is focussed on Meats and his desperate attempts to deal with the dice that’s causing so much problems. Then there’s an intense thrill-ride of a chase sequence that plays out like an Indiana Jones scene, only, y’know, taking place in the intestinal tract. All of this, much like Head to Head, is captured perfectly by artist Robert Jennex; his style being absolutely pitch-perfect to deliver such a subject matter and such unique characters.

Craps may be lacking the moral dilemma of its predecessor, but it’s still a hell of a fun ride that has the added extra of topping Head to Head’s impressive comedic moments. As such, we’re hugely encouraged to hear that a third outing for Mogan and his organs is already in the pipeline.
