Netflix’s upcoming redo of Lost in Space has found another member of its Robinson clan in the shape of Molly Parker.

Deadline is reporting that the House of Cards actress will be playing Maureen Robinson in the new series. The mother of the Robinson family, Maureen was played by June Lockhart in the original Lost in Space series and then by Mimi Rogers in the 1998 movie.

Parker joins a cast that’s currently made up of Toby Stephens as John Robinson, Maxwell Jenkins as Will Robinson, and Taylor Russell as Judy Robinson.

This new take on an old favourite will arrive on Netflix in 2018, with the first season to be made up of ten one-hour episodes. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless are on writing duties, with Prison Break’s Zack Estrin serving as showrunner. Genre fave Neil Marshall, best known for the likes of The Descent and Dog Soldiers, is on board to direct several episodes of the series. The new show is being described as “a survival story for the ages”.

As for the original Lost in Space, that series debuted back in 1965, focussing on the Robinson family’s adventures in space after they were left stranded thanks to some no-good shenanigans from Dr. Zachary Smith. The show ran for three seasons, totalling eighty-five episodes. Following that came a doomed ‘70s cartoon show and an attempted 2003 live-action series from John Woo, and of course there was the aforementioned 1998 movie that starred Gary Oldman, Mimi Rogers, Matt LeBlanc, William Hurt and Heather Graham.
