Matthew Macfadyen is trading one crazy family for another, as news comes that the Succession star is in talks to join Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in Deadpool 3.

The highly-anticipated third Deadpool film also stars Emma Corrin in a villain role. THR writes that, although Mcfadyen’s role hasn’t been announced, production was reportedly searching for a character described as being a third wheel to Deadpool and Wolverine. As anyone who has seen him as Tom in Succession will tell you, that role sounds pretty perfect for the English actor.

Bobs BurgersWendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin wrote a previous draft of the Deadpool 3 script, with Deadpool and Deadpool 2 scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick coming in later to rework on the project.

This coming film will be the first time the franchise moves into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and will also be the MCU’s very first R-rated entry (though that’s just a 15 in the UK). Shawn Levy, who collaborated with Reynolds on the time-travelling adventure The Adam Project and Free Guy, is directing the feature.

Matthew Macfadyen can currently be seen on HBO’s Succession, the fourth and last season of which began airing this week.

Deadpool 3 releases November 8th, 2024.
