Following his debut in this year’s Captain America: Civil War, the upcoming solo movie for Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa has brought in another new addition in the form of Angela Bassett.
Marvel Studios has officially announced that the Oscar-nominated actress, best known for the likes of What’s Love Got to Do With It, Green Lantern and American Horror Story, will be playing T’Challa’s mother, Ramonda, in Marvel’s Black Panther.
Bassett joins a cast that includes the aforementioned Boseman in the titular role, Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Forest Whitaker as Zuri, Daniel Kaluuya as W’Kabi, Florence Kasumba as Ayo, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Winston Duke as Man-Ape, and Letitia Wright in an unknown role.
To be directed by Creed’s Ryan Coogler, Marvel’s Black Panther is currently set for a February 16th, 2018 release.
