On the big screen, it appears that Tony Stark’s J.A.R.V.I.S. system, voiced by Paul Bettany, will be evolving into Vision in Joss Whedon’s AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. But way before there was Just a Rather Very Intelligent System (as has been the case since the 1990s), there was a man: Edwin Jarvis.

Recent official word brings news that James D’Arcy, currently seen in the groan-inducing LET’S BE COPS, has been confirmed to play Edwin Jarvis, the butler of Dominic Cooper’s Howard Stark, in the upcoming AGENT CARTER show. As well as serving Stark Snr. well, chances are that D’Arcy’s Jarvis will end up making quite the impression on young Tony Stark seeing as Stark Jnr. would go on to name his A.I. system after the faithful butler.

In terms of AGENT CARTER, the official word on the show reads:

Marvel’s AGENT CARTER, starring CAPTAIN AMERICA’s Hayley Atwell, follows the story of Peggy Carter. It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life–Steve Rogers.

AGENT CARTER will debut early next year.
