DC’s Harley Quinn animated series will return to HBO Max for a fourth season! The streamer announced the show’s renewal ahead of its season 3 finale on September 15th.

Not only that, but the series is also getting a new showrunner, with Sarah Peters taking over the role from Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker. Peters has written on the series since its debut and currently serves as consulting producer.

It’s good news for DC fans, particularly since the recent news that the anticipated animated series Batman: Caped Crusader from J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, and Bruce Timm will not be going forward.

The third season of the show follows Harley Quinn (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) return to Gotham City as the new power couple of DC villainy. Along with their ragtag crew – King Shark (Ron Funches), Clayface (Alan Tudyk), and Frank the Plant (JB Smoove) – they strive to become the best villains they can be while also working towards Ivy’s long-time dream of transforming Batman’s hometown into nature’s paradise.

“We are ecstatic that HBO Max wants the story of Harley and Ivy to continue,” stated Halpern and Schumacker in a joint statement. “And we are equally thrilled that this next season will be in great hands with Sarah Peters as our showrunner and Ceci Aranovich overseeing animation production, as they have both greatly influenced the show with their brilliance since the beginning.”

Season 3 of the Harley Quinn animated series ends September 15th.
