GRIMM UP NORTH have revealed the full line-up of films for this year’s GRIMMFEST, which takes place at The Dancehouse, Manchester between October 2nd – 5th.

Alongside the previously announced preview screenings of DEVIL’S TOWER and WHITE SETTLERS, the Gala Opening night – which features LET US PREY, SUBURBAN GOTHIC and the world premiere of the short film THE HERD – and the special presentation of SUSPIRIA featuring a live score from CLAUDIO SIMONETTI’S GOBLIN are a selection of some of the best, most-anticipated films from the world of horror, sci-fi and cult cinema. As Festival Director, Simeon Halligan declares, “We always try to make each GRIMMFEST bigger than the last and I think this year has been really strong for independent horror and genre titles, I’m really excited by what we’re going to screen at GRIMMFEST, I’m convinced it’s our best line up yet!

Over the course of the weekend, GRIMMFEST plays host to a fabulous array of genre films including Oliver Frampton’s THE FORGOTTEN, Gerald Johnson’s horror comedy HOUSEBOUND, James Ward Byrkit’s COHERENCE (Starring Nicholas Brendon of BUFFY), WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS (the vampire comedy from THE FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS team), Kevin Kolsch & Dennis Widmyer’s STARRY EYES, the mad-cap ZOMBEAVERS, Jeff Baena’s fantastic LIFE AFTER BETH, Till Kleinert’s slasher THE SAMURAI, the eagerly-awaited WOLFCOP, and closing the festival will be Ivan Kavanagh’s thriller THE CANAL.

There will also be GRIMMFEST fringe screenings, beginning on Thursday with the WOMEN IN HORROR SHOWCASE which points the spotlight on films from some of the best women in the horror world. This includes Venezuelan Suspense flick THE HOUSE AT THE END OF TIME starring Ruddy Rodríguez, the shocking and brilliant short SHE written and directed by Chelsey Burdon and Mark Vessey and starring CURSE OF CHUCKY’s Fiona Dourif, Jessica Cameron’s directorial debut TRUTH OR DARE, neo-noir Horror JULIA starring Ashley C. Williams, and post-apocalyptic thriller THE WELL starring Haley Lu Richardson.

The second strand will the HEAD F**K CINEMA SHOWCASE, which includes such as Joseph O’Brien’s feature debut DEVIL’S MILE, black comedy sci-fi thriller L.F.O, THE RECONSTRUCTION OF WILLIAM ZERO, OPEN GRAVE starring Sharlto Copley (DISTRICT 9, ELYSIUM) and Australia’s very first giallo film, SORORAL.

There will also be the best new short films, including SOLITUDO, the new short from Alice Lowe (SIGHTSEERS, GARTH MARENGHI’S DARKPLACE), GET SOME from Adam & Joe Horton starring John Hannah (THE MUMMY) & Warren Brown (LUTHER) plus demonic possession tale THE VISITANT starring Amy Smart (THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT), Andy Stewart’s brilliant SPLIT, Lovecraft influenced thriller VOMICA, Spanish Gothic black comedy DON’T PLAY WITH THE FOOD, THE STOMACH, Matt Barker’s ALL I KNOW IS NOTHING, and moody portrait of a serial killer from Fredrik Hana (ANGST, P*SS & DRID) AUTUMN HARVEST.

Special guests already announced include Pollyanna McIntosh and Liam Cunningham from LET US PREY, and special effects make-up artist Shaune Harrison. More guests will be announced in due course.

GRIMMFEST takes place at The Dancehouse, Manchester, October 2nd – 5th.

Full festival pass holders will receive a gift bag containing such goodies as DVDs and the latest issue of STARBURST MAGAZINE, and a chance for one lucky pass holder to win a one-year subscription, while another could win a day at make-up artist Shaune Harrison’s Academy of Prosthetics and Make Up!
