Best fantasy fiction prize The Gemmell Awards have now revealed the longlist for 2015, and voting has been opened to the general public. You can access the ballot here.

The Gemmell Awards come in three flavours; the Legend Award is for recent fantasy novels; the award itself is a scale replica of the axe Snaga, from Gemmell’s novel Legend; the Morningstar Award is given for best debut novel (and the prize is a nifty looking star on a plinth); and the Ravenheart Award is given for best fantasy book cover art.

This year’s longlist is rather exciting, with the likes of Joe Abercrombie, Robin Hobb and Adrian Tchaikovsky being up for a Legend Award. Kameron Hurley, Edward Cox and Den Patrick are all up for the Morningstar at this stage, and Chase Stone is in the running for the Ravenheart for their work on the GAME OF THRONES tie-in, WORLD OF ICE AND FIRE.

The Gemmell Awards ceremony takes place at 8pm on Saturday 8th August as part of the Nine Worlds Geekfest. For more information on the awards, or the ceremony, go here.
