From this past weekend’s New York Comic Con comes some casting news where Marvel’s Black Panther is concerned.

Marvel Studios used the event to announce the casting of Forest Whitaker, Daniel Kaluuya, and Florence Kasumba as well as confirming last week’s reported addition of Winston Duke. The Last King of Scotland’s Whitaker (who actually worked with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler on Fruitvale Station) will play Zuri, an elder statesman of Wakanda. Sicario’s Kaluuya will be playing W’Kabi, a confidant of Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa. Kasumba will be back as Ayo, a member of the Dora Milaje and a role she appeared in earlier this year in Captain America: Civil War. Andas was reported last week, Duke is indeed to play M’Baku, aka the villainous Man-Ape.

These new additions join the already-confirmed Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther, Michael B. Jordan as the no-good Erik Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o as Killmonger agent Nakia, and Danai Gurira as Okoye, one of the wives-in-waiting for T’Challa

To be directed by Creed’s Ryan Coogler, Black Panther is currently set for a February 16th, 2018 release.
