The Midlands’ premier horror and fantasy festival, Shock and Gore, returns Friday 25th July-Thursday 31st July, offering up another blend of the weird, the wonderful and the just plain wrong. Based at the Electric Cinema in Birmingham (the UK’s oldest working cinema), events also happen around the city and this year will include a live score to seminal BBC drama Threads, a special foodie event based around morbid cult classic Harold & Maude, a revisionist history of horror through a queer lens from the BFI’s Michael Blyth and our annual all-nighter headlined by a big screen showing of Ridley Scott’s Alien.

There’ll also be usual blend of cult classics, live Q&As, restored oldies and exclusive previews, plus a screening of the winners of the Shock and Gore Best Short and Best Feature competition, open to low budget filmmakers from across the globe.
