Hot on the heels of the success of this year’s remarkably successful WORLD SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTION in London earlier this year, Dublin’s bid to host this international event in 2019 has announced that it is looking for fans to contribute to its bid attempt.

The formal bid is not until 2017, however Dublin is keen to ensure that the entire range of fandom gets a chance to contribute. They’re looking for input into their Official Code of Conduct. The code will apply to the committee, the bid team, and all volunteers. Creating a safe and friendly environment at geek-related conventions has become a key concern for many fans, and the Dublin 2019 bid has shown great foresight it announcing an open consultation this soon.

They want anyone with an interest to get involved, including creators, cosplayers, comic readers, furries, gamers, movie buffs, geeks, nerds, gamers, and all things fannish.

Currently, Dublin is the only place that has expressed an interest in hosting for 2019. The location of the 2017 WORLDCON is yet to be confirmed as there are 4 venues currently in competition; Helsinki, Montreal, Washington D.C., and Nippon. Helsinki is currently the bookie’s favourite, though we will know for sure some time during the 2015 Worldcon in Spokane, USA.

Those interested in helping out with Dublin 2019’s code of conduct can find more information on their website.
