With the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise getting a reboot over at Disney, the House of Mouse is close to bringing in some big-name writers to pen the do-over.

Via Deadline, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are in talks for the gig of writing the Pirates reboot. That pairing is likely best known for their work in penning the two Deadpool movies and also for genre fave Zombieland.

In the five Pirates of the Caribbean pictures to date, a whopping box office return of over $4.5 billion has been taken home. No concrete details are known on just how Disney will handle this reboot, and there are rumblings that Johnny Depp may or may not be back as Jack Sparrow in some capacity. In fact, the only real solid information that we have right now is that the reboot is indeed happening and that producer Jerry Bruckheimer is again involved.

As ever, expect more on this new Pirates of the Caribbean effort as it continues to develop.
