After much speculation, it looks as if David Fincher is indeed going to be directing the upcoming World War Z sequel.

As per Variety, Paramount has seemingly confirmed a deal with the iconic Fincher, with an official statement on the matter believed to be imminent. The rumours of Fincher helming World War Z first began last year, then reared their head again only a few months ago.

Fincher, of course, has previous with World War Z star Brad Pitt – who will be returning for this upcoming sequel – having worked with him on Se7en, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. In addition to those pictures, Fincher’s credits also include the likes of Alien 3, The Game, Panic Room, Zodiac, The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Gone Girl.

Production on World War Z 2 is expected to start early next year.

As ever, expect more on this as we get it.
