Marvel

Earlier today, Marvel released its first teaser image for its November Marvel NOW! relaunch with a poster that simply reads “INVINCIBLE”, along with the names of writer Kieron Gillen and artist Greg Land. Gillen is currently writing the ongoing series Uncanny X-Men, which is set to be canceled once the Marvel NOW! Initiative takes off and it looks like the duo of Land and Gillen will move on from mutants to playboy billionaire philanthropists come November with Invincible Iron Man.

Gillen’s recent work has been well received but Greg Land’s career has been marked with harsh criticism due to his limited range of expression and prodigious use of tracing. It’ll be interesting to see how the duo will handle Invincible Iron Man, considering how successful the title has been with writer Matt Fraction and artist Salvador Larroca behind the wheel.

The current creative team has set the bar high for Invincible Iron Man, earning an Eisner award in 2009 for Best New Series. After handing over the reins to Gillen and Land, Fraction and Larroca will take over Fantastic Four.
