You knew this was coming, though it’s probably not the Cocaine Shark you had in mind… Following the success of Elizabeth Banks’ Cocaine Bear, the filmmaker jokingly responded to suggestions that a sequel could centre on a coked-up shark. Well, it turns out that someone has beat her to the punch – per Bloody Disgusting, it appears that Wild Eye Releasing has their own Cocaine Shark on the way, already complete with an official trailer.

This upcoming mockbuster sees a mafia drug lord unleash a new, highly addictive stimulant on the streets called HT25, derived from sharks held captive in a secret lab and which causes monstrous side effects. After an explosion and leak at the lab, an army of mutated, bloodthirsty sharks and other creatures are set loose on the world.

The project comes from director Mark Polonia, whose recent works include Amityville in Space; but the director is best known for his love and use of sharks in comedic horrors. Should you require proof of Polonia’s devotion to the large fish, we would refer you to the likes of Jurassic Shark 2: Aquapocalypse (the third instalment, Seavenge, is in the works), Sharkula (Dracula meets sharks), Sharkenstein, Shark Encounters of the Third Kind (“A group of hostile aliens crash land at the bottom of the ocean, and via mind control use sharks to terrorise a small town”), Doll Shark (a seemingly harmless plush toy is inhabited by the evil spirit of a killer shark), and many more.

Samantha Coolidge, Ryan Dalton, Natalie Himmelberger, Titus Himmelberger, Jeff Kirkendall, Noyes J. Lawton, Kyle Rappaport, and Ken Van Sant star. No release date for Cocaine Shark has yet been announced, but you can watch the trailer below:
