Ghostbusters: Afterlife actor Celeste O’Connor has been tapped to star alongside Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney in S.J. Clarkson’s upcoming Sony film, Madame Web.
The next entry into Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters will be an origin story of the clairvoyant, whose psychic abilities allow her to see deep within the spider world. No details yet as to who O’Connor – or Sweeney, or Johnson, for that matter – will be playing. The whole shindig is being kept tightly entrapped in a web of mystery.
Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (the duo behind Jared Leto’s vampire flick) write the script, with Kerem Sanga having penned an earlier version. It’s worth noting that Madame Web won’t be the next Sony superhero film post-Morbius; it will be preceded by J.C. Chandor’s Kraven the Hunter starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, which is set for release January 13th, 2023. The other Johnson-fronted pic will spin into screens on July 7th of next year.
Celeste O’Connor is best known for having appeared in Jason’s Reitman recent Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and also starred opposite Kathryn Newton and Vince Vaughn in the Blumhouse body-swap slasher Freaky. They will next been seen in Zach Braff’s drama A Good Person, which will see them starring alongside Morgan Freeman and Florence Pugh.
