London based residential convention Nine Worlds Geekfest in encouraging attendees to submit manuscripts for potential publication.

Literary agency Conville & Walsh has offered to take a look at a limited number of submissions sent in via the Nine Worlds website. If selected, a lucky few will get to have a face-to-face with industry professionals on the Friday of the convention. Work submitted by hopefuls will be assessed by Sue Armstrong and Alexander Cochran and up to 30 individuals may be selected.

“Alexander and I are thrilled to be involved in this year’s Nine Worlds GeekFest,” said Sue Armstrong. “As agents we’re both passionate about meeting, engaging and working with new and exciting writers of SFF. It can be daunting taking those first steps towards publication so, through our one-to-one sessions, we hope to offer some friendly advice and editorial feedback to those who may not have access to it otherwise.”

Nine Worlds Geekfest is organised by streams – each particular subject matter gets its own stream and these are essentially smaller, more focused conventions that concentrates on one thing. The multiple streams combine to form one larger and more energetic event. The manuscript submission opportunity is part of the All of The Books stream, which focuses on all things book based.

The convention has only been running since 2013, but has already gathered a reputation for being an event that focuses on the joy of fandom rather than merchandising stalls and autograph hunting. Nine Worlds Geekfest is now open for booking and is happening at the Radisson and Renaissance hotels near London Heathrow on August 8th-10th 2014.
