Tim Burton is attached to direct a reimagined telling of Warner Bros.’ sci-fi horror movie classic, Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman. According to Deadline, which broke the news, the project is being written by Gone Girl and Sharp Objects scribe Gillian Flynn.

The 1958 original starred Allison Hayes as a wealthy heiress whose close encounter with an extra-terrestrial triggers her to grow into a giant woman, complicating her rocky marriage with her philandering husband. Burton is reportedly producing Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman alongside Andrew Mittman and Tommy Harper, with Kai Dolbashian as executive producer.

Tim Burton currently has another project with Warner Bros., withs the sequel to his own Beetlejuice coming out September 6th. The title was recently – and fittingly – revealed to be Beetlejuice Beetlejuice 2024 A.D. Let’s hope he doesn’t make it a trilogy, or we might come across some issues with the naming. Flynn, meanwhile, is in the process of adapting her own novel, Dark Places, into a limited series at HBO.

No word yet on who might star in this reimagining of the science fiction classic, nor when the project might make it to screens, but stay tuned for further updates as we hear them!
