In the ongoing saga of the raging black hole that is Gamer Gate, Anita Sarkeesian, creator of FEMINIST FREQUENCY, has had to cancel her presentation at Utah State University following the statement that weapons would be allowed at the venue, the university has revealed in a statement.

Following what was described by Standard Examiner reports as threats to ‘a number of personnel’ at Utah State University via e-mail, it’s believed that the e-mails threatened Sarkeesian (which, unfortunately, isn’t the first time similar threats have been made) alongside attendees with ‘the deadliest school shooting in American history.’

While the University had initially planned to go ahead with the presentation following the threats, it was indeed cancelled when Sarkeesian was told that ‘if a person has a valid concealed firearm permit and is carrying a weapon, they are permitted to have it at the venue’.

No doubt, there’s plenty of other venues across the pond that would gladly have her speak.
