PUBLISHER: WIZKIDS | RELEASE DATE: COMING SOON

Baldur’s Gate Descent Into Avernus has rapidly become a classic work in the Dungeons & Dragons canon, combining one of the most beloved cities in fantasy gaming with apocalyptic hellscape and some rather interesting villains. Wizkids have chosen to produce the book’s bad guys in painted plastic miniature form. Either to look nice on your bookshelf or to terrify the players on the gaming table.

First and foremost in this set is Arkhan The Cruel, the big bad guy from the book. He’s a dragonborn paladin of Tiamat (the many-headed dragon goddess), wields a legendary axe and wields the hand of Vecna. So there’s a lot going on with this sculpt, but it all works. He’s a dramatic-looking villain and finely painted. We also get Changó, a rather sizeable manticore. It’s quite a spikey and bestial model. Its tail is more spikey than you usually get with this sort of monster, but it’s a lovely model and it’s always nice to have a beastie like this in your collection.

We get a human berserker, which is basically a half-naked dude wearing a skull and wield a great-sword. It’s nothing terribly exciting, though more cultists are always nice. We also get a White Abishai, a winged demon that will wipe out low-level parties on its own. It’s dramatic, works as any sort of demon on the table and a worthy addition to this set. Krull is a very well put together necromancer that also happens to a scary-looking turtle person (a Tortle, to be exact). He’s a major player in Descent into Avernus and it’s very well done if creepy piece. Finally, we get Torogar Steelfist, a huge minotaur wielding flaming blades (it’s clear orange plastic, so it looks cool).

The figure pack is a strong addition to any collection and a nice reminder of a great campaign.
