On a high from that STAR WARS trailer and need bringing down to earth? Well here’s something to kill your mood, as it’s being reported that 3D will be a part of the next PARANORMAL ACTIVITY movie.

In fairness, the franchise started off strongly with 2007’s PARANORMAL ACTIVITY before the standard dropped with each passing film, culminating in the fairly awful PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONES that was released earlier this year. But given the success of, y’know, JAWS 3-D, FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3: 3D, AMITYVILLE 3-D, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 6: FREDDY’S DEAD, THE FINAL DESTINATION, SAW 3D, PIRANHA 3D (some of us do actually like that one) and the horrendous TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D (a STARBURST Shauna fave), it’s only logical to give the dwindling franchise a 3D kick up the rear, right? Obviously.

So, according to Bloody Disgusting, the next outing in the series, titled PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 5: THE GHOST DIMENSION, will have a 3D element to it. The report suggests that 3D will be used to differentiate the action between different dimensions. Yep, dimension-hopping is apparently on the agenda for this next film. Franchise regular Katie Featherston will be returning, with series newcomer Tyler Craig also confirmed for a role. The bulk of the story will focus on a new family being haunted by a supernatural entity, with the plot to tie in with the earlier outings in the franchise, particularly THE MARKED ONES.

Directed by Gregory Plotkin, with a script from Jason Pagan and Andrew Stark, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 5: THE GHOST DIMENSION is currently set for a March 13th, 2015 release.
