We can all agree, Vincent D’Onofrio’s take on Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, in Marvel’s Netflix-exclusive Daredevil has been nothing short of phenomenal in the show’s two-season run so far. Of course, with those Netflix shows being set within the confines of the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe, many have been wondering whether D’Onofrio’s Kingpin could turn up in a future big screen MCU outing. Well, according to D’Onofrio himself, that doesn’t seem to be something that will be happening any time soon.

Speaking to Digital Spy about just that topic, the actor sadly played down the chances of his Fisk making it to the silver screen, explaining, “I would love to switch over to the movies, but I think it’s pretty much been said it’s not going to happen. Or at least not for a very, very long time. I think Kevin Feige explained that, and that’s what makes the most sense, he said the film universe is too jam-packed. It’s hard enough already, and if they keep bringing big characters in that they have to service in the writing, it’s not gonna work. They’re trying to figure out already how to individualize more and at the same time keep The Avengers going. It’s makes sense not to mix the TV stuff, there’s just too many characters.”

Considering how Kingpin has tangled with so many of the characters now being seen in the MCU, most notably Spider-Man, it seems a shame to keep this fan favourite villain away from the big screen. But, in fairness to D’Onofrio, he talks a lot of sense in how there’s just so much happening and so many characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this point. Still, if it’s at all possible down the line, it would fantastic to see D’Onofrio’s Fisk pop up in an MCU movie at some point in the future.

Of course, regardless of his big screen involvement or not, there’s a good chance that we’ve not seen the last of Wilson Fisk when it comes to Marvel’s Netflix-exclusive shows, particularly given the hotly-anticipated The Defenders ensemble series that’s on the way in the second half of this year.
