FX’s American Horror Story has tackled many a horror-driven subject over its six-season run – from ghosts, to mental asylums and aliens, to witches and voodoo, to freak shows, to haunted hotels full of bloodlust, and a whole host more – but many people saw far more horror playing out in real life last year. Yes, we’re talking about Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign. And now, it’s been revealed that the next season of American Horror Story will actually deal with that topic.

Co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed the news on What Happens Live, saying, “Well I don’t have a title, but the season we begin shooting in June is going to be about the election that we just went through. So I think that will be interesting for a lot of people.”

When pushed on whether we can expect to see a Trump-esque character in the new season, Murphy teased, “Maybe.”

All that’s known about this seventh season of this fan favourite show is that series mainstays Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will be back. Out of all of the familiar and recurring faces to appear in the show since it began, Paulson and Peters are the only two who have featured in all seven seasons of American Horror Story.

As ever, expect more on all of this as it develops.
