There’s still a whole load of questions surrounding the next Friday the 13th entry, but now there’s an update of sorts. Well, kind of. Truth be told, it’s one of those quiet news days… but there is an update of sorts on the next outing for Jason Voorhees.

As reported by Bloody Disgusting, what we now know is that the film is currently waiting on a finalised screenplay. Prisoners’ Aaron Guzikowski has been working on the script for a while, and it’s said that the final script is due next month. After that, the plan is to start shooting at the end of the summer. Obviously, the screenplay itself will need to be given the okay once it’s handed in, and then there’s the question of who’ll end up directing the film.

Plot-wise, all we known about this latest Friday the 13th is that it will be a period piece of sorts that will look to resurrect the oft-dead Jason.

So, whilst we still know rather little, we do know that this next Friday the 13th is still happening. Whether it keeps Paramount’s planned January release date, though, we’ll have to wait and see.
