THE FLASH is set to get his own live action TV series courtesy of The CW, Deadline have reported.

Set in the same universe as recent hit ARROW, DC’s speedy superhero is rumoured to be making an appearance in the second season, to be premiered this October, as a set-up for his own show. Guest appearances on SMALLVILLE aside, the character has not been seen on screens since a short-lived CBS drama which ran for one season from 1990 to 1991, though there’s a rumour circulating of a film also in the works.

It’ll be interesting to see how The Flash fits into the more realistic world of this other DC adaptation. The pilot will reportedly be scripted by ARROW co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, alongside DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, so there’s good reason to believe that they’ll come up with as creative and interesting a take on The Flash as they did for Green Arrow.
