Fangbangers of the world can rejoice with the news that HBO have renewed True Blood for a 7th season.

The show, which stars Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgard is currently midway through its 6th season in the U.S. The 7th will air Summer 2014. Current showrunner Brian Bucker, who took over from creator Alan Ball at the start of the current season, will also be returning.

HBO programming president Michael Lombardo stated:  “True Blood remains a signature show for HBO, and a true phenomenon with our viewers. Thanks to Brian Buckner and his talented team, the show continues to be a thrill ride like nothing else on TV.

Whilst it may occasionally be a bit daft nowadays, sometimes steering close to Buffy The Vampire Slayer silliness (but y’know, with extra sex & violence. Wait, I’m saying that like it’s a bad thing…) the show remains a ratings winner for HBO, regularly pulling in over 4 million viewers, making it the cable network’s second biggest drama after Game Of Thrones.

So what do you think? Glad it’s coming back again, or is it time to put a stake through True Blood’s heart? Personally, so long as Jessica’s still in it, I’ll happily keep watching it forever.
