The moment fans have been waiting for is still several months off (April 7th to be precise), but a trailer for series four of the popular HBO series GAME OF THRONES has landed, and there’s one certainty among the chaos it promises, expect gore, nudity and, of course, ready your farewells for characters both beloved and hated.

There’s plenty to look forward to, be it Daenerys and her growing dragons, the plight of the few remaining Starks’ or Jaime dealing with his problem of hands. The trailer, while short, boasts it all and whets the appetite. Watch the new promo in the player below:

Mark Gatiss, of SHERLOCK and LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN fame, is said to be playing Tycho Nestoris, of the Iron Bank. The previous series’ have set the mark high for quality television that has all the trappings of cinema, and series four looks set to follow in that trend.

The bridge between the show and the book is getting smaller, though fans are trusting of creator George R.R. Martin they’re fully aware their favourite characters, provided they’re still alive, are probably in danger.

Series four airs on April 7th, Sky Atlantic.
