Here’s some bittersweet news for fans of everybody’s favourite Miami-based serial killer Dexter Morgan, with the announcement that star Michael C. Hall has signed a deal to reprise the role for a further two seasons… but it’s likely that that’ll be our lot.

To be honest, though we’re huge fans of the show here, it’s possible eight seasons might be pushing it somewhat. We’re already seeing signs of the show repeating itself, with the writers understandably finding it increasingly more difficult to put a fresh spin on the season’s main arc. Also, how has he not been caught yet?! But that there niggle might ultimately be explored yet with this newly announced end point.

With five fabulous seasons already under their belts, and a sixth nicely underway (how insane was the Four Horseman scene!) let’s hope the creators have enough up their sleeves to sustain a further two seasons. It would be tragic if they were to drop the ball so late in the game.
