Carol Kane

What must surely be the most exciting news of this week, is that Carol Kane has joined the cast of the Batman prequel TV series, GOTHAM.

TV Line reports that the Oscar-nominated actress has been cast as Gertrud Kapelput, the mother of the Penguin himself, Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor).

Kane, who is perhaps best known for her roles in SCROOGED (1988), WHEN A STRANGER CALLS (1979) and Woody Allen’s ANNIE HALL (1977), will make her matriarchal debut in GOTHAM’s second episode

GOTHAM, due to debut this autumn, also stars Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon, Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock and Sean Pertwee asAlfred Pennyworth.
