After Merlin came to an end in 2012, the Beeb have no doubt been looking for a suitable replacement. Enter Atlantis, an evening slot of Greek mythology and adventure, which began only 4 (or δ if we are getting our Greek on!) weeks ago. Howard Overman (Merlin, Hotel Babylon, Misfits) writes the series and fellow Merlin alumni Julian Murphy and Johnny Capps produce the show.

The reviews have dictated that the series is slow but steady and reasonably engaging. However viewing figures, according to the BBC on Twitter, have been the largest for a Saturday Night Drama across BBC since 2006. Hence a second series has been approved, just under halfway through the current series. No doubt fans will await the expansion of this adventurous series, rooted in legend. It seems there is no sinking Atlantis (on TV anyway). Praise the gods!

The series currently airs in the UK, every Saturday at 20:15 on BBC One and stars Jack Donnelly, Robert Emms and Mark Addy.
