We never quite believed the rumours that Marvel Studios would invest in a full-on Agent Cater (Hayley Atwell) project. Given their track record for shying away from granting heroines their own vehicles, coupled with the costly period setting, it all just seemed very unlikely. Sure, Peggy Carter’s 15-minute One-Shot was superb, but there’s not much of a gamble on Marvel Studios’ part when the project is just a Blu-ray extra on a movie everybody is going to buy anyway (ie IRON MAN 3). Well, if Deadline are to be believed, we were fools to doubt the studio, and the AGENT CARTER project is very much a done deal, with Tara Butters & Michele Fazekas (REAPER) now on board to write and produce, and ABC to host.

Will the show replace the ailing AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. or act as a companion piece (seeing as AGENT CARTER charts the beginnings of the shady organisation)? We hope it’s the latter, as S.H.I.E.L.D. continues to really find its stride.

And speaking of AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., it’s just been announced that the next MCU cameo following on from Nick Fury’s all-to-brief appearance in episode 2 (and Thor’s boots in episode 8… pathetic), will be Jaimie Alexander’s Lady Sif. Very intriguing. Tune in to episode 15 to find out how Butch Whoppercock and the gang cross paths with the Asgardian warrior. Could a ratings-saving Loki arc be too far behind?
