Two Adrianne Palicki stories in one day? Really? Here goes.

Let’s take a trip back to those glory days of years gone by, when Adrianne Palicki played Wonder Woman… Oh, you don’t remember those? Yeah, neither do most people.

At one point in time (see: 2011), a Wonder Woman TV show was being developed to air on NBC. Looking to cash in on the success of SMALLVILLE, the show had Adrianne Palicki cast in the titular role. Also on board were Liz Hurley and Cary Elwes. Unfortunately, the show dubbed simply WONDER WOMAN never made it past the pilot stage, as NBC decided to pass on the project. Speaking to IGN, Palicki has been discussing the experience.

The actress said, “I got to play Wonder Woman, which was, by the way, maybe one of the coolest things ever.”

Asked if she regretted the show not being given a series run, she responded, “I wouldn’t say regret. I was devastated when it didn’t go and it was expected to. It was one of those things that was shocking. But, in retrospect, it was probably a blessing. It would’ve been a really hard thing to shoot. And I got to wear the costume – I should say, I got paid to wear the costume! So not many people get to say that. I’m really blessed to have gotten to do that and maybe someday down the line I’ll get to play that character or another awesome icon again.”

To close, Palicki was asked if there were any other superhero roles that she has her eye on. “I’m waiting for Supergirl,” she responded.

We here at Starburst pretty much unanimously (well, me and Mike at least) believe in the Palicki-as-Wonder-Woman cause. She had the look down, the size down, the curves down (even if slightly manufactured), and the pilot really didn’t seem overly bad. Either way, the show was discarded and sent the same way as the Justin Hartley-starring AQUAMAN pilot that appeared around that time.

The Wonder Woman ball is now firmly in Gal Gadot’s court, as she’s recently been cast to play the Amazonian in Zack Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL sequel and subsequent Warner Brothers/DC features.

So, would you have liked to see the Palicki pilot turned into a full-blown series or did you think it was rightfully canned at the pilot stage?
