In some surprising news, it looks as if TRON 3 is to start shooting later this year.

The Vancouver-based VanCity Buzz is reporting that film will shooting in the area in the second half of 2015. To be more precise, it’s being reported that shooting will actually start on October 5th.

In terms of who’s involved in the project, TRON: LEGACY’s Joseph Kosinski has been long-attached to direct this new TRON movie, and Garrett Hedlund is also attached to return as Sam Flynn. Whilst it’s not confirmed at this stage, it’s also presumed that Olivia Wilde will be returning as Quorra.

2010’s TRON: LEGACY certainly has a lot of fans, and the soundtrack alone is the stuff of legend. That film took $400 million at the global box office, but seemed to suffer a huge increase in popularity when it hit the home release market. That in itself is a little similar to the 1982 original TRON, which did disappointing numbers on its cinema release before going on to become a cult classic when released on VHS.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
