TOP GUN 2 is something that seems to have been in some form of development since Tony Scott’s original hit screens way back in 1986 (nearly 30 years ago, people!). Now comes word that Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have found a writer for the project. Latino Review reports that the man tasked with such a mission is Justin Marks, who has most recently been penning the script for Warner Brothers’ Andy Serkis-helmed THE JUNGLE BOOK.

No details are known at this stage in terms of plot or director, although Tom Cruise is set to return to one of his most famed roles, Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell. There was previously a draft script in place from THE TOWN’s Peter Craig but it’s not sure if this has been totally scrapped or whether Marks will use it as a starting point.

Expect more on this as it develops.
