After plenty of rumblings over the past few years, Tom Cruise has now moved to confirm that a Top Gun sequel is indeed happening.
When asked about the rumours of a sequel to the 1986 classic, Cruise told Australia’s Sunrise, “It’s true. I’m going to start filming it probably in the next year.”
This isn’t the first time that rumours of a Top Gun follow-up have surfaced, but this is the first time that Cruise himself has really addressed the situation – let alone seemingly confirming the sequel.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has previously suggested that any Top Gun 2 would focus on how prominent unmanned drones are these days, with pilots such as Cruise’s Maverick now becoming a thing of the past.
As ever, expect more on this as we get it.
