With Todd McFarlane to make his directing debut with the upcoming Spawn reboot, the comic book icon has now talked about how he’d also be eager to tackle a new Spawn animated series.

Speaking to ScreenGeek, McFarlane enthused, “I’m going to get the movie out and then we still have the rights for TV and animation, and we’ll just figure it out. I’ve also got to figure out how to get Keith David in my movie, too. Just for one line.”

David, of course, was the voice of the titular character in the animated Todd McFarlane’s Spawn series that ran from 1997 to 1999.

As McFarlane has discussed previously, the current plan is for this new movie to start shooting in February with a budget of just $10 million. McFarlane, the creator of the character, has also reiterated how the film will be a dark and R-rated effort that will play more like a horror picture than your usual superhero movie.

Expect more on all things Spawn as they continue to develop.
