Hot on the heels of this month’s news that The X-Files was returning for an audio series, now comes word that this beloved genre favourite is returning for a new season of fantastic live-action telly!

As revealed by FOX, The X-Files is heading back to the small screen for an eleventh season. Once more dubbed an “event series” – much like last year’s Season 10 – this return will be made up of ten episodes and air as part of the 2017-2018 season of TV. And yes, all of the key players will be back, with the likes of creator Chris Carter and stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny confirmed to return.

On this news, FOX’s David Madden said, “Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators – these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why The X-Files has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide. Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files.”

Expect more on this as we get it.
