With work on Star Trek Beyond (aka Star Trek 3) now under way, the film has added another number to its ranks.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that martial arts master Joe Taslim, who is best known for his work in the likes of The Raid and Furious 6, is joining Justin Lin’s film. The actor has previously worke with Lin on the aforementioned ‘fast cars and big explosions’ movie, in which he played a villain.

In terms of cast, this next Star Trek movie will see returns for Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg and John Cho. In terms of new additions, Idris Elba is the film’s main villain, whilst Kingsman’s Sofia Boutella has also landed an unknown role. It’s believed that Taslim’s character will have close ties to Elba’s big bad.

Star Trek Beyond is set for a July 8th, 2016 release.
