Homeland’s Damian Lewis is set to star in the upcoming supernatural dark comedy The Radleys, based on Matt Haig’s 2010 novel of the same name. The project previously announced that Heartstopper and Doctor Who director Euros Lyn was attached to direct, with Good Luck To You Leo Grande’s Debbie Gray producing.

The Radleys follows the Radley family, an ordinary family – or so people believe. In fact, they are vampires, though only parents Helen and Peter (Lewis) know of their family’s true nature. The Radleys are ‘abstainers’, vampires who choose to resist their cravings and not drink blood. Their teenage kids, Clara and Rowan, have no idea about their heritage; that is, until Clara is attacked by a boy in her class and her instincts take over, forcing her parents to tell them the truth.

With this revelation, Rowan questions his own identity and the wrestles with the growing temptation to try his blood, an urge that only grows stronger with the arrival of his uncle Will (Lewis again), Peter’s twin brother and a practicing vampire, who is more than willing to show Rowan what vampiric fun there is to be had. Predictably, conflict and chaos ensues.

The Radleys is based on a script by Jo Brand and written by Talitha Stevenson. Lewis is also executive producing. Casting is reportedly underway on the dark vampire comedy.
